Neighbours, everybody needs good neighbours...

Jawel! Gisterenavond liep ik eindelijk één van m'n twee nieuwe bovenburen tegen 't (goedgeklede en welgevormde) lijf. En ik moet zeggen: 'Dat zag er best wel goed uit!' Heel goed zelfs... Hij leek me toch alvast een ferme verbetering tegenover de 'Hé ik lijk een beetje op F. Dewinter' ex-bovenbuur of 'Laat ik m'n pornofilm eens op meeluistervolume bekijken' ex-bovenbuur. En da's natuurlijk mooi meegenomen.

Maar er is nog goed nieuws! M'n huisbaas screent z'n huurders namelijk op 'vrijgezellen status'. Oké, ik schrok wel even toen hij me destijds vroeg: 'En hebde gij een lief?' Maar blijkbaar heeft hij liever geen koppeltjes in z'n Bachelor Flat. Ik was dus meteen goedgekeurd. Marnix ook. Marnix mijn spikslinternieuwe én vrije bovenbuur. Goedgekleed ook. En knap. Of had ik dat al gezegd? Maar wel een euh... merkwaardige naam. Maar iets voor in 'Boer zoekt vrouw' of in een krantenkop: 'M. (62) uit Retie krijgt flessenpost met huwelijksaanzoek van honderdjarige monnik.'

Maar goed. Er valt te leven met zo'n naam. Echt, daar ga ik niet over vallen.

Over vallen gesproken! M'n eerste indruk heb ik alvast gemaakt: ik viel over m'n pantoffels en m'n afzakkende broek toen ik gehaast m'n vuilniszak buitenzette. Hij stond ondertussen te gniffelen aan z'n auto (ter zijde: hij heeft dus een auto én een rijbewijs! De perfecte aanvulling op m'n fiets eigenlijk feitelijk!). We sloegen een kort praatje en ik bood hem al m'n hulp aan. Ik deed in al m'n enthousiasme ook fantastische uitspraken als: 'Als je eitjes of bloem of melk of boter of euh... een schaar of schuurpapier nodig hebt, je moet maar komen kloppen hè!' en 'Nee, ik heb eigenlijk niet zo veel last van lawaai, hoor!' Goed bezig, Sarah!

Die eerste, o zo belangrijke indruk... ik ga het echt nooit leren!
